Save your songs as a file. You can open it in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or Notepad, change the chords, and import it back.
Importing changes the songs for everyone in the room, so it needs Edit mode.
Export a song, change it, import it back. Press Export, download your song, open the file in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or Notepad, change the chords, and import the file again. Your files stay on your own device.
.txt and .csv hold one row of the chart per line. .xlsx and .xls hold one row of the chart per spreadsheet row, one song per sheet. Cells can be separated by commas, tabs, semicolons or spaces.
Every cell is one measure. Four cells make one row of the chart (a longer line wraps onto the next row). When a measure has more than one chord, put a split mark between them. The mark says where the next chord starts: one > for every beat that has passed.
| Mark | The next chord starts on |
|---|---|
> | beat 2 (after 1 beat) |
>> | beat 3 (after 2 beats, the middle) |
>>> | beat 4 (after 3 beats) |
| You write | You get |
|---|---|
CMaj, GMaj>>G7 | Measure 1 is CMaj. Measure 2 is split in half: GMaj, then G7. |
GMaj>Gmin>>G7>>>G9 | One measure split into 4: GMaj, Gmin, G7, G9. |
GMaj>>>G9 | GMaj holds until beat 4, then G9. |
These marks were chosen because they are never part of a chord name, a bar line, a slash chord or a spreadsheet separator, so they will not get in the way when you copy chords between websites, documents and this app.
Each measure uses four cells, one for each beat, so one row of the chart is 16 cells. Put a chord in the cell of the beat where it starts. A blank cell keeps the chord going.
| CMaj | GMaj | G7 |
That is CMaj for the whole first measure, then GMaj on beats 1 and 2 and G7 on beats 3 and 4 of the second measure. Choose this layout when you import, or let the app work it out.
A letter and a type, like CMaj, C, Am, AMin, G7, Gm7, CMaj7, Bdim, Daug, Esus4, Fsus2, C6, C9, Cadd9, Bm7b5. A flat such as Bb is saved as the sharp (A#). Other types are kept as you typed them. Two special entries: N.C. means no chord, and % means the same chord as before. Chords with a bass note work too: C/G keeps the bass note.
A line pasted from a chord website that uses | between measures, such as | C G | Am | F |, is read as measures. Chords separated by spaces inside a measure share it equally. Lines with commas, tabs or semicolons are read as spreadsheet cells.
A line that starts with # is a note. # Song: My Song starts a new song, so one file can hold several songs. Empty lines are ignored. A measure holds up to 4 chords.
